My review of the French film, THE ORPHANS

I really enjoy foreign action films. This one tonight, THE ORPHANS, is French. Watch it on Netflix.

First of all, for me, it’s the scenery. I’ve been to France many times, and I have seen just how beautiful it is. 

Sure, well written action movies in NYC, Miami, Los Angeles, even the desert areas of Arizona are okay, but it’s sorta like a “Been there, done that” kind of thing when it comes to the scenery/locale of a movie.

Foreign films offer viewers the opportunity to experience other parts of the world that most people never have the opportunity to visit. 

Typically, foreign films are produced using the language of the country they are produced and filmed in, as in this French film, and after the movie is finished, the producers then use “Voice Actors” to record the other languages, like in this film, “English” when releasing it in “Foreign” markets. 

Most of time, the “English” versions are not as good as they should be because the “Script” the Voice Actors are reading from is not as good as the original film “language” because the scripted version lacks the off script “Acting” as most good actors will sometimes Ad-Lib their “Lines” adding that unscripted human touch that is not in the “Script”.

THIS film did it right. The “English” matches the intended feeling as if it was scripted and acted in English, with the various Ad-Libs that great actors would do.

THAT, is the reason I decided to write one of my world-famous reviews, (plus I smoked a bong-load of my favorite Oregon Home Grown). 

Serious question. Why do “Munchies” like Popcorn always taste better when you’re stoned? 

I like popping a small piece of Hersheys Chocolate in my mouth and then a small handful of popcorn after the chocolate has melted slightly. I digress.

Anyway, back to the movie. I still have one hour, twenty minutes, and thirty-seven seconds left. 

Wow! Really nice orphanage. I bet France has a lot of nice orphanages. 

Unlike here in the USA. I know from experience (long story, which can be read in my book, Ramblings of an Old Fart). 

WELL WRITTEN SCREENPLAY. I love it when the two orphan dudes Gabriel and Driss finally got into a fight with each other. 

Makes sense. They hadn’t seen each other in 15 years or so, and they were not close buddies when they were teenagers. Better than a MMA fight. Excellent fight choreography! I wonder who’s going to win? They’re both bad ass Muderfrickers.

They BOTH win! Unlike Iran versus the apartheid genocidal zionist government in Israel and Epstein Regime in the White House currently trying to convince the world that they won.

With 57 minutes and 26 seconds left, I had to stop and say that the screenwriting wins it for me big time. 

The entire scene where Leila infiltrated the Mafia type Mansion and escaped after almost killing the young dude who purposely caused the accident in the beginning of the film was what won. Five Unknown Sock Puppet Awards out of five for Best Screenplay. 

DIALOGUE! The most important part of any movie as far as I’m concerned. “You said family “.. “No. I said, Fuck Off”.. “No, you said family”……..(slightly longer pause) “No I said, Fuck Off”. 

The confrontation at the Mafia Mansion was awesome! With forty-eight minutes and twenty seconds left, I have to say that this is my all-time favorite French Film I’ve seen to date. Five Unknown Sock Puppet Awards out of five for Best Foreign Movie. 

I give ALL the actors/actresses 5 out of 5 Unknown Sock Puppet Awards for Best Actor/Supporting Actors. 

When Driss lit up a pre-roll, I re-loaded my bong, hahaha! 

Talk about non-stop action! At least an hour of car chasing, shoot em up, hand to hand combat and exploding shit I’ve ever seen. 

I reiterate, the best foreign action film I’ve ever seen. Five Unknown Sock Puppet Awards out of five for the director, Olivier Schneider, for the producers, Rémi Cervoni, Sidonie Dumas, and Rémi Leautier, and for the Cinematographer, Maxime Cointe.
