Scientific evidence for human origin versus the Creation Story in the Book of Genesis. Answering the question: Who REALLY are “God’s Chosen People”.

Part 1: The Oldest Known Homo sapiens

The title of “oldest known” human is constantly being revised as new discoveries are made. As of now, the leading candidates are from Morocco and Ethiopia.

1. Jebel Irhoud, Morocco (~300,000 years old)

· Discovery: Fossils were first found in the 1960s but were initially misdated. In 2017, advanced dating techniques applied to new finds at the site yielded an age of approximately 300,000 years.

· Significance: The Jebel Irhoud individuals had a modern-looking face and teeth, but a more elongated, archaic braincase. This suggests that Homo sapiens’ distinguishing features did not evolve all at once in one place. 

These finds pushed back the origin of our species by over 100,000 years and indicate that early Homo sapiens were spread across Africa, not just in the east.

2. Omo Kibish, Ethiopia (~233,000 years old)

· Discovery: The Omo Kibish fossils (Omo I and Omo II) were discovered in southwestern Ethiopia in 1967. 

Recent re-dating of the volcanic ash layers surrounding Omo I suggest an age of at least 233,000 years.

· Significance: Omo I is considered anatomically modern in both its skull shape and post-cranial bones, making it one of the earliest unquestionable Homo sapiens.

Important Context: Human evolution is not a straight line. These early Homo sapiens likely lived alongside other human species (like Homo naledi and later, Neanderthals) for vast periods. The search for a single “cradle of humankind” is giving way to a model of a “Pan-African” origin, where different regions of Africa contributed to the mosaic evolution of our species.

Part 2: Contradictions with the Book of Genesis

The scientific narrative of human origins and the creation account in Genesis (specifically chapters 1-2) are fundamentally different in method, timeline, and scope. Here are the key contradictions:

1. Timescale: Billions of Years vs. Six Days

· Science: The universe is ~13.8 billion years old. Earth is ~4.5 billion years old. Life began ~3.7 billion years ago. The genus Homo appeared ~2.5 million years ago, and Homo sapiens evolved ~300,000 years ago.

· Genesis 1: Describes creation in six 24-hour days, with humans created on the sixth day. A literal reading, especially when combined with biblical genealogies, led to calculations like Archbishop Ussher’s 17th-century estimate that creation began in 4004 BC—making the Earth only about 6,000 years old.

· Contradiction: The difference between 300,000 years and 6,000 years is immense. The entire scientific chronology is irreconcilable with a strict, literal six-day creation.

2. Order of Events

· Science: The sequence is: Universe → Earth → Simple Life (in seas) → Plants → Land Animals → Primates/Humans. Birds and sea creatures evolved from land ancestors.

· Genesis 1: The order is notably different:

  · Day 1: Light, Day/Night.

  · Day 2: Sky and Sea.

  · Day 3: Land and Plants.

  · Day 4: Sun, Moon, Stars (after light and plants?).

  · Day 5: Birds and Sea Creatures.

  · Day 6: Land Animals, then Humans.

· Contradiction: Plants appear before the sun; birds appear before land animals (in science, birds are dinosaurs, which came much later). Humans are the very last act of creation in Genesis, while in evolution, they are a recent branch on a vast, ongoing tree of life.

3. Mechanism: Evolution vs. Special Creation

· Science: Humans evolved through the process of natural selection acting on genetic variation over millions of years, sharing a common ancestor with other apes.

· Genesis: Humans are specially and instantly created by God from “the dust of the ground” (Adam) and then from Adam’s rib (Eve). They are created in God’s image, separate and distinct from animals.

· Contradiction: This is the most profound difference. Evolution presents a picture of shared ancestry and gradual change driven by natural law, while Genesis describes a purposeful, immediate, and separate act of divine creation.

4. The First Humans: A Population vs. a Single Pair

· Science: Species evolve in populations, not from a single pair. Genetic evidence indicates that the effective population size of early Homo sapiens was never fewer than several thousand individuals. There was no genetic “bottleneck” of just two people.

· Genesis: All humanity descends from a single, original pair—Adam and Eve.

· Contradiction: Modern human genetic diversity cannot be explained by descent from two individuals within the last 6,000-10,000 years. This is a major point of debate even among theologians who accept an old Earth.

Navigating the Contradictions: Spectrum of Belief

How people reconcile these differences falls on a wide spectrum:

· Young Earth Creationism: Rejects mainstream science, upholds a literal six-day creation and a young Earth (~6,000 years). Views fossils as evidence of Noah’s Flood.

· Old Earth Creationism/Theistic Evolution: Accepts the scientific timescale but sees God as the guiding force behind the process of evolution. Often interprets the “days” of Genesis as long ages or sees Genesis as a theological (not scientific) text about God’s relationship with creation and humanity.

· Literary/Theological Interpretation: Views Genesis 1-3 as a poetic, polemical, and theological work written to establish the identity of the God of Israel (as opposed to other ancient Near Eastern gods) and to explain the human condition (sin, estrangement from God). It answers “why” and “who,” not “how” or “when.”

In summary: Scientifically, the oldest known Homo sapiens are ~300,000 years old from sites in Africa. This evidence directly contradicts a literal reading of Genesis in terms of timescale, sequence, mechanism, and population origins. 

The resolution of this conflict depends largely on whether one approaches Genesis as a scientific textbook or as a religious and theological document. 

Conclusion to consider: Think what you may, our species is much older than the religious texts claim, and NOT from the land of the Bible’s Old Testament. 

Once you understand that, you will understand that the various religions are all different fairy tales, just written in different languages. 

Until someone discovers new archeological evidence, our species originated in Africa, NOT “Israel”. And for the Zionists to claim that Jews are the “Chosen People” is absurd. If you still want to believe in a “Creator” and “Creation Event” that’s okay, I won’t take any more time to convince you otherwise. What I DO want is for you to understand that WE ALL ARE EQUAL IN THE EYES OF OUR OWN HUMANITY.
