With all the negativity surrounding religious differences and discrimination, bigotry, anti-Muslim this, anti-Christian and anti-Jewish that, and how “Religion” itself is at the heart of all the conflicts and wars we have seen for thousands of years, I think it’s interesting to note that the source of the Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, is the belief system Zoroastrianism, which began in mid-6th century BCE on the Iranian Plateau. That’s 2,625 years ago, and pre-dates the Abrahamic religions.
Here’s a summary of Zoroastrianism:
Zoroastrianism is an ancient Persian monotheistic religion founded by Zarathushtra (Zoroaster) that centers on the worship of one supreme God, Ahura Mazda, in a cosmic struggle between good (Ahura Mazda) and evil (Angra Mainyu).
Its core ethics focus on “Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds,” emphasizing moral choice and purity, with sacred texts like the Avesta, particularly the Gathas, guiding followers. Practiced today as a minority faith, especially by Parsis in India and Iran, it influenced Abrahamic religions with concepts like a final judgment and Messiah.
Core Beliefs & Concepts:
* Ahura Mazda: The uncreated, benevolent, and wise creator God, the source of all that is good.
* Angra Mainyu (Ahriman): The destructive spirit, the force of evil and darkness, in opposition to Ahura Mazda.
* Cosmic Dualism: A fundamental battle between good (Truth/Order – Asha) and evil (Falsehood/Chaos – Druj).
* Free Will: Humans have the freedom to choose between good and evil, making ethical choices crucial.
* Eschatology: Belief in a final defeat of evil, a resurrection, and a final judgment.
Practices & Worship
* Ethics: The guiding principle is “Humata, Hukhta, Hvarshta” (Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds).
* Fire Temples (Dar-e Mehr): Places of worship where sacred fires burn, symbolizing Ahura Mazda’s light and purity.
* Purity: A strong emphasis on ritual and bodily purity.
Sacred Texts & History
* Avesta: The collection of Zoroastrian sacred scriptures, with the Gathas (hymns by Zarathushtra) being the most important.
* History: Originated in ancient Persia (Iran) and was the state religion for major Persian empires before the Muslim conquest.
* Influence: Key concepts like monotheism, dualism, and the Messiah significantly influenced Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
In conclusion, I believe that we are, and have been as a species, transitioning through an approximate 150 year threshold/period, i.e., between the “Age of Pisces” which I believe began 2,625 years ago, and the “Age of Aquarius”.
If you google “Age of Pisces”, the two key words that describe it? Age of Religions & Wars. If you do the same type of search for “Age of Aquarius”…..you will get “Age of Technology & Peace”, what I call the “Beam me up Scotty” age.

I believe we are currently coming to a “Fork in the Road” of life.
As a species, we are going to suffer through a LOT more bullshit, even perhaps an all- out nuclear war that would wipe out 90% of humanity, or a catastrophic event like a hit by a gigantic comet.
I believe that SOME will survive to continue our journey into the future fullness of the Age of Technology & Peace, the Aquarium Age. WHOOPS! I thought I typed in “Aquarian”, hahaha! Happens all the time.
At my age (77), I know I won’t be around to see it happen. My 12 year old grandson MAY be one of those survivors that continues on into the “Beam me up Scotty” age. I wish I could join him.
